Rated 5 out of 5 by Beep from Never Use Anything Else GUM Expanding Floss is the only kind I use ever since my dentist gave me a sample. I have tight and uneven spaces that used to break and shred regular floss. That left me with bits of floss stuck painfully between teeth, almost impossible to get out. GUM expanding floss is woven so that it gets through tight spaces, but it is still expands wide enough to do a good job cleaning in the wider places. I like it so much that I order it on line by the dozens because it is not carried by our local stores. I swear by it and my wife loves it to. We have it in our bathroom, on our nightstand, by the TV, in our cars, in our desks at work!

Rated 5 out of 5 by AQ7 from What a Difference! My past dentist office was getting to be frustrating about my seeing the Dentist prior to having a necessary cleaning (for clarification purposes). Since that experience, i have been going to a Periodontist for my cleanings. This Periodontist office gave me a sample of the GUM Expanding Floss. Even provided a one-on-one class for how to use this stuff properly. The Puffy area of the stringed floss allows me to know that i have flossed correctly. I TRY to have a new container of this Expanding Floss w/me, so that whenever a colleague mentions that they have been to the dentist (woe is me story), i hand them the Expanding Floss and say give it a TRY!

Rated 5 out of 5 by Tracy 9416 from Expanding Floss I really like this type of floss. It isn't slippery and it seems to have a little more abrasiveness when using against my teeth. My dentist uses this, and I really found that it works better than other flosses. The only complaint I have, and it does not have anything to do with the floss, is that in a previous large order of the expanding floss, I ordered, I believe, over 10 packs of this floss. In those packs of floss there were several packages that did not have expanding floss. The package indicated expanding dental floss, but it was regular floss.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Babette from Fantastic Product!!!!! Floss really is Boss!!! I am a Dental hygienist and this is by far my favorite floss. Removes a lot of plaque and debris. Waxed floss is like training floss... teeth are tight when a person doesn't floss so it inserts easier but in time teeth relax. Waxed floss is like wiping up a milk spill with a plastic bag. My patients love it too.. It's almost like I have a small fan club for this stuff. I have patients come back and beg for more samples...It is difficult to find in the retail stores unfortunately. However, I am thrilled to see it can be purchased on Company Site....

Rated 5 out of 5 by JK 025 from Tried other brands- this is my favorite Over the years I have tried just about every brand and type of floss available at the local grocery stores and drug stores. A while back, my dentist started including a sample of Gum expanding floss in the goody bag I receive after each 6 month check up (also included is a Gum #495 toothbrush). I don't like waxed floss, and other unwaxed flosses often feel harsh on my gums. Not this floss. It actually feels good, there is far less bleeding, and it cleans as well or better then the other brands I have used in the past. The only negative is that it is hard to find in stores, at least around here (Chicago area). Going forward I doubt that I will ever use anything other than this product. To me, it is superior to the other brands. I really like the toothbrush, too.

Rated 4 out of 5 by Dental Customer #1.0 0028 from Useful Expanding Floss The GUM brand's Expanding Dental Floss is really nice to have around, especially when you want a string floss to fluff up and have some volume during use. This reduces the sharpness of the floss around the gums. My only wish is that a version of this product would be available without any wax in it. Wax does not work well for cleaning, since it glides over the tooth surface, and simply does not do a great job of scraping residues on the tooth surface. Additionally, wax is hydrophobic, and it does not do a great job of holding cleanser volume while flossing. Flossing in the presence of toothpaste (or cleanser) really helps to clean around tooth surfaces under the gum line. Dear GUM Brand folks, please manufacture an unwaxed version of the expandable floss! Thank you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Diane 037 from inconsistent quality When it works, this floss is superlative. By far my favorite. But I have noticed that with some product lots, the floss simply does not expand. It just remains a tight little (ineffective) cord. For a while I was buying one package at Rainbow, then going into the bathroom to try the floss, and then--if it worked--buying more packages with the same lot number. But I gave up on this strategy because it became too expensive. I have a bag full of duds. I would like to know the reason for this variation in quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by Lynelle DeRoo 0122 from Great stuff! If this is the floss that used to be packaged in a purple hexagon box, *I LOVE THIS FLOSS*!! As a dental hygienist, I am always on the look out for exceptionally good materials to grab the plaque and remove it from tooth surfaces. The super-slick-easy-side-thru stuff has no grab and will remove some particles, but not remove the plaque matrix in order that the gum tissue may heal properly. The woven/expanding floss does quite nicely and feels gentle on the gums.
